Description

Ethnographic collections are usually created by adults collecting items used by their families or locals. The creation of the ethnographic collection "Legradska hiža" hides a completely different story. A beautiful story about love for the homeland, harmony, dedication, and "Ekići". Ekići is a small but very valuable and harmonious group of children gathered around the teacher Tamara Marcinjaš, who designed several projects for the preservation of the heritage of the Legrad region as part of the subject of civic education. The need to organize an ethnographic collection permeated their numerous activities. After receiving confirmation from the mayor, they went on tours of similar collections, connected with museums, curators, and during a full nine months of diligent work collected over 300 items, for which they made a real catalog and inventory book. In them, they recorded everything about the objects they collected: where they came from, information about the donors, the purpose of the object and where it came from, and on what occasions it was used. They involved the whole community in the project and on April 23, 2014, they held the grand opening of their ethnographic collection. If you want to get to know the way of life of the inhabitants of Legrad, visit this beautiful collection and support Ekići in their further work. Because they are tirelessly striving for new projects.
