Description

At the initiative of Martin Matišin, an enthusiast and well-versed in the history of Virje, the Virje Homeland Museum was founded in 1977. With the support of all the locals who donated museum exhibits, in 1979 a museum was ceremoniously opened, containing numerous documents and a rich ethno-collection, one of the best in this part of Croatia. The museum is located in the Old School, and at the entrance are the verses of the local poet Petar Petričec.

The Municipality of Virje takes care of the museum, regular cleaning, and protection of the exhibits.

A tour of the museum can be arranged by invitation or during the working hours of the Virje National Library.
