The municipality of Rasinja was established in 1993.

The municipality of Rasinja is part of the Koprivnica-Križevačka County, in the north-west of Croatia.

The municipality has a total of 3,890 inhabitants (according to the 2001 census), who live in 21 settlements (Belanovo Selo, Cvetkovec, Duga Rijeka, Gorica, Grbaševec, Koledinec, Kuzminec, Ludbreški Ivanac, Lukovec, Mala Rasinjica, Mala Rijeka, Prkos, Radeljevo Selo, Rasinja, Ribnjak, Subotica Podravska, Velika Rasinjica, Veliki Grabičani, Veliki Poganac and Vojvodinec). According to the national composition, 80 percent of Croats and 20 percent of Serbs live in the municipality. Other national groups of the population are not buried in the structure of the municipality's population.

The area of ​​the municipality is 102 km2 or only 38 inhabitants/km2. The seat of the municipality is in Rasinja, where 94 inhabitants live. Of the total population, 65 percent are working population, and 35 percent are dependents (children, elderly). Of the total working population, 70 percent are individual farmers, who live in the so-called mixed household.
